In 1997, Security Bancorp obtained the HUD approval as a Title II correspondent.
Since its inception, the prime focus of Security Bancorp has been to serve the real estate financing needs of the low to moderate income consumer, catering to the needs of the rapid growing Hispanic community in California.
Security Bancorp’s founders Rebecca Uribe and Laura Uribe, who themselves are bilingual and bicultural understand well the nuances specific to the Hispanic community and were inspired to put forth a 30-minute informercial in Spanish to help educate on the substantial economic and social benefits of homeownership. This educational informercial provided information about the home buying process, explained the different loan programs available, as well as, educated first-time homebuyers on the true cost of homeownership.
The informercial aired in 2000 on several local Spanish Language Television stations and the response was overwhelming. The increased interest generated by the informercial propelled Security Bancorp to become a preferred mortgage partner for the CRA Program (Community Reinvestment Act) for both Bank of America and Wells Fargo Bank.
In today’s changing mortgage climate, Security Bancorp continues its emphasis on education by hosting home financing seminars to first-time homebuyers, homeowners and real estate professionals focusing on underserved communities to provide relevant information on loan programs currently available.
